Here are 5 songs Muse discovered recently. Sometimes they’re new artists, sometimes they’re seasoned artists. So if you have a song that you would like feedback on, feel free to comment and it might find its way into a future post or video.
An important note: I am studying music production and often talk about the production of songs. I also mention other songs or artists that come to mind. This isn’t to compare talent, but to provide a reference point to what I’m hearing or describing. I will often critique, but please don’t confuse this with being negative. If I honestly dislike something, it won’t be featured on the site because I’m not in the business of being mean.
As always, the tracks are in chronological order by the release date. So as to not look like there is a favorite. ^^
Push – Stoned Mary
I remember seeing a TikTok post a while back asking where pop punk went, it’s right here! Stoned Mary is the perfect amount of All Time Low, Paramore, and pure rock vibes. I know female lead bands get a lot of push back, but turn the volume all the way up on this track and sing along. Tell me it doesn’t hit just as hard. Her voice could have easily competed with the Taylor Swifts and the Meghan Trainor’s of the world, but she chose to add badass electric guitars and some pounding drums as the back drop for her amazing vocals. If it’s not on your Pop Punk playlists, you’re missing out!
This Is Me (이게 나) – Jiwhan Kim
I came across this while searching for new artists on Instagram and was blown away by that piano juxtaposed against the deeper voice. It’s been stuck in my head for weeks now and I knew I needed to share. The production feels like it belongs in a movie. And he plays with the beat very beautifully. Very skillfully choosing pitch and cadence to serve up maximum moody vibes. This song has been a staple in my playlist rotation and I think it definitely should be on yours as well.

busy – Bass B
The stripped down nature of this track really allows his absolutely stunning vocals to shine. The Jazzy keys and his skilled voice is a beautiful choice. You can close your eyes and almost feel the hazy bar around you while it plays. The switch from falsetto to a rich tone and back again gives it texture and emotion. It’s amazing how the song feels like it’s so layered and stripped down at the same time, and it’s all because of the emotive way he sings. Definitely recommending adding Bass B to your playlists and keeping an eye on him because it’s only up from here!
feelin’ low – Jean Seizure
Such a smooth and groovy track! It feels a bit nostalgic, like the production feels like it’s paying homage to the 90’s. But her voice carries it for me. “I don’t really care if this is going to hurt” is such a line. It’s such a dancey track that needs to be played at a club. I can see the whole place bouncing to this with the throwback beat and her warm melodic tone. I’d love to catch her live sometime!

all in my head – ninth life
This track is such a vibe. Bedroom R&B is always such a smooth listen and this song falls right in line. It gives car rides in the rain that lead to the couch, if you follow what I mean. This is one of the few times where mixing the vocals into the music more creates a suitable sonic quality that allows the music to flow through you, instead of being a frustrating experience. I love the glitchy vocal effects they used in the production to accentuate the mental state he’s detailing in the lyrics. Everything ties together in such a satisfying way. Play it on repeat to set the mood.
Thank you for joining me! And I hope you leave a little lighter than when you arrived. ^^
